We’re only a little over a month away from the public opening of the new building! New pictures can be found on the Flickr site. Things are looking great and moving at a much faster pace now.

New pictures are up on the Flickr site at flickr . Everything is still on schedule for an August 20th opening to help kick off USF’s Week of Welcome.

Part 8 of the series which is a wrap-up for the semester long info series. I hope you’ve learned a lot more about the building through the series. We’ll keep adding new information throughout the summer as we get closer to opening in August - so please keep visiting the web site and the blog for up to date info.

Part 7 of the series is up and it discusses the enhance plaza. Also, new interior pictures are up on the flickr page. Visit http://ctr.usf.edu/newmsc/default.htm for more information.

Check out the project’s flickr gallery for a look lots of new exterior pictures of the building. www.flickr.com/photos/marshallstudentcenter

Also, I’m hearing things are really moving along on the inside. The grand staircases are in, tile is going in and lots of other things are moving along.

Part 6 of the information series is up. This installment discusses the lounges, study rooms and computer lab. Throughout the building there will be several lounges - ranging from large to small, intimate lounges. There will also be a Serenity Room which will be a quiet place for students unwind, meditate and relax. The computer lab will be two-stories in the new building and will have the ability to have its own hours, separate from the main building of the new Marshall Student Center.

On the 2nd floor there will be four study rooms available on a first-come, first-served basis for group work. The rooms will feature a conference table and dry erase board and will be open whenever the building is open.

There will be quiet lounges, television lounges, lounges with views and more in the building; it will be a great place to meet up with friends and relax or study.

If you take a look at the southwest section of the building - that’s the part facing MLK Plaza between the Theater building and the MC, you can see a lot of work going on. Big sections of glass have all been installed, the stucco is nearly finished and the bricks have been added. This will give you a good idea on what the building will look like when it’s done. You should check it out when you get a chance.

Part 4 of the information series will go live on Monday, February 18th. This segment focuses on the atrium of the new building and what to expect when you enter the building. Also, we walked around the building on Thursday, the 14th and I was able to take a few pictures that are up on the flickr page here http://www.flickr.com/photos/marshallstudentcenter/. Also, a new construction update as well as a video of Zoltar are up on the regular site here http://ctr.usf.edu/newmsc/default.htm

Come out to the information showcase about the new building on February 4th, from 11:00am until 1:30pm in room 132 of the MC. We’ll have new renderings and floorplans of the new building, plus new information. There will also be free snacks. So grab some lunch in the food court and come on by room 132 (around the corner from the food court) and check everything out. We look forward to seeing you there.
